DVI Cable Background

DVI (Digital Visual Interface), the digital video interface. It was launched in 1999 by Silicon Image, Intel (Intel), Compaq (Compaq), IBM, HP (HP), NEC, Fujitsu (Fujitsu) and other companies to form the interface standard of DDWG (digital display Working Group, Digital Display Working group).

DVI is based on TMDS (transition Minimized Differential Signaling), the conversion of the least differential signal technology to transmit digital signals, TMDS uses advanced coding algorithm to encode 8bit data (R, G, b color signals) into 10bit data (including row field synchronization information, clock information, data de, error correction, etc.) through the minimum conversion, and after DC balance, the differential signal is used to transmit data. Compared with LVDS and TTL, it has better electromagnetic compatibility performance, and can realize long-distance and high quality digital signal transmission with low-cost special cable. The connection transport structure of the TMDS technology is shown in Figure 1. Digital Video Interface (DVI) is an internationally open interface standard, which is widely used in PC, DVD, High-definition TV (HDTV), High-definition projector and other devices.
