Structure analysis of SCSI system

SCSI is a device-independent I/O subsystem that allows you to connect a number of different devices to a computer system. The device's independence means that you do not need to know any special information about the device when connecting to it. SCSI can obtain the necessary parameters directly from the device through the corresponding command, so that all specific information about the device is placed on the peripheral device.

The SCSI bus can connect several different devices at the same time, but only two of these devices can communicate with each other at any given time. The address of the device on the SCSI bus is called the SCSI ID, and each SCSI ID must be guaranteed to be unique on the bus. The SCSI ID also defines the priority of the connection device, where the SCSI ID0 has the lowest priority. These devices play the role of initiator (Initiator) or target on the SCSI bus. The initiator selects a target and sends a command to trigger an action on the SCSI bus. However, once the command has been transmitted, the target obtains control of the bus protocol by which it decides whether to release the bus and, after releasing the bus, decides when to connect to the initiator. The SCSI host adapter for the computer is a typical initiator, and the SCSI interface's hard drive is a typical target.
